DRAISAITL SIGNS 8-YEAR, $112 MILLION CONTRACT

The Edmonton Oilers and superstar forward Leon Draisaitl have agreed to and signed an eight-year, $112 million contract that comes with a $14 million AAV.
TFP reported earlier Tuesday a deal was being finalized over the long-weekend.
“This is a historic day for the Edmonton Oilers,” said Executive VP of Hockey Operations and General Manager Stan Bowman.
“Leon’s commitment to our team, our city and Oilers fans everywhere cannot be overstated. His desire to help bring a Stanley Cup title home to Edmonton is central to everything he does both on and off the ice.”
Draisaitl, 28, skated in 81 games in 2023-24 recording 41 goals and 65 assists for 106 points. His 10th season in an Oilers uniform, he added another 10 goals and 21 assists through 25 playoff games helping propel the club to its first Stanley Cup Final appearance since 2006.
Drafted third-overall by the Oilers in 2014, Draisaitl has generated 347 goals and 503 assists for 850 points in 719 career NHL regular-season games, thus far. He ranks first in Oilers history in powerplay goals with 146 and third in powerplay points with 296.
