The New York Rangers are looking for roster upgrades ahead of tomorrow’s 3pm ET trade deadline and are one of the teams interested in Buffalo Sabres forward J.J. Peterka.
Peterka, 23, is in the final year of his three-year, entry-level contract and is eligible to become a restricted free agent July 1.
Sabres beat reporter Lance Lysowski first reported that Peterka is on New York’s radar.

The Sabres have generated a lot of interest in Peterka and GM Kevyn Adams has been engaged in trade discussions with other clubs about him, as well as the likes of forwards Dylan Cozens, Alex Tuch, Jack Quinn and Jason Zucker, and defenceman Bowen Byram, Owen Power, Henri Jokiharju, Dennis Gilbert and Jacob Bryson.
Over the weekend, TFP’s David Pagnotta reported during the pregame show to the Stadium Series on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio that the Sabres were actively trying to move Jokiharju, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Peterka, drafted 34th overall by the Sabres in 2020, has picked up 18 goals and 31 assists for 49 points in 58 games with the Sabres so far this season.
