2025 SUMMER TRADE WATCH LIST

As of June 23, 2025 | 1:00pm ET

The silly season is upon us, and with that comes our Summer Trade Watch List, as teams look to improve their clubs going into the 2025-26 campaign.

As we do every season, TFP has outlined some of the top names reportedly available this summer according to various media reports and our own league-wide sources. Omitted from the list are Unrestricted Free Agents.

This page will be updated frequently and TFP’s panel of experts will outline each player’s value. Some players may climb or fall off the list, while others may be added.

NOTE: Teams linked to players, based off various media reports and internal sources, will be updated regularly.

AGE: 35
CAP HIT: $10M

1. Erik Karlsson, RD - Pittsburgh Penguins

With Pittsburgh moving forward a rebuild, the Penguins are shopping Karlsson and the veteran blueliner is open to a move to a contender. It’s unclear how much of his $10 million cap hit the Penguins are willing to eat to help facilitate a trade (the Sharks retained $1.5M of his total $11M AAV), but it is part of the equation to moving him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: RFA

2. Bowen Byram, LD - Buffalo Sabres

All signs point to the Sabres moving Byram at some point this off-season. It’s unclear what they are looking for, at this stage, but his high contract demands coupled with Buffalo’s desire to add a top-six forward have made him available.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Philadelphia, NY Rangers, Calgary, Boston

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $5.125M

3. Evander Kane, LW - Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers will be looking to move Kane this off-season and his $5.125 million cap hit. He is entering the final year of his contract and comes with a 16-team trade list. Reports ahead of the trade deadline suggested he refused to waive his NTC for a team that wasn’t on his trade list — could those talks get revisited now that the season’s over?

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 24
CAP HIT: $5.75M

4. Trevor Zegras, C/LW - Anaheim Ducks

Traded to Philadelphia

Word started to spread over the weekend that the Ducks are engaged in trade calls involving Zegras, once again. He’s going into the last year of his contract, and will remain controllable as an RFA in July 2026. We will see if the Ducks finally pull the trigger on a Zegras move.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Buffalo, Montreal, Calgary, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: RFA

5. Marco Rossi, C - Minnesota Wild

Minnesota is actively looking to move Rossi, who is believed to be looking for a contract in the $45 million to $50 million range. He’s an RFA this July and Wild GM Bill Guerin has been taking calls on him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Philadelphia, Montreal, Vancouver, Nashville, Calgary, Buffalo

AGE: 30
CAP HIT: $3.75M

6. Matt Dumba, RD - Dallas Stars

The Stars already freed up some cap space by moving out Mason Marchment, but they aren’t done. Dumba is entering the final year of his deal and Dallas GM Jim Nill has been evaluating options. A move is expected this month.

Teams reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 25
CAP HIT: RFA

7. K’Andre Miller, LD - New York Rangers

Miller is set to become an RFA this July and the Rangers have been actively shopping him. While not a guarantee, it sure looks like New York is poised to move him at some point this off-season.

Los Angeles, Calgary

AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $4.55M

8. Rasmus Andersson, RD - Calgary Flames

If the Flames come to the conclusion that they will not be able to get Andersson inked to a contract extension this summer, GM Craig Conroy will look to trade him and fill his void elsewhere.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Ottawa, Carolina, Dallas, Columbus

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: RFA

9. J.J. Peterka, LW - Buffalo Sabres

Teams are calling about Peterka, but the Sabres aren’t overly eager to part with him. It sounds like it will take a significant offer for Buffalo to consider moving Peterka, who can become a restricted free agent July 1.

Teams reportedly Linked:

NY Rangers, Vancouver, Utah, Calgary, Columbus, Minnesota, Chicago, Tampa Bay, NY Islanders

AGE: 26
CAP HIT: $11.6M

10. Elias Pettersson, C - Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks have said they prefer to keep Pettersson, but Vancouver is open to taking calls. Pettersson has a full no-movement clause that kicks in July 1 and his trade value is at a low-point, so moving him may prove to be difficult.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Buffalo, Detroit, Minnesota, Ottawa, Columbus

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $4M

11. Viktor Arvidsson, RW/LW - Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers will be exploring the trade market on Arvidsson, who is entering the final year of his contract. He owns a full no-movement clause, but is willing to waive it for the right environment.

Teams reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $5.125M

12. Bryan Rust, RW - Pittsburgh Penguins

Rust has three years left on his contract and will see his full no-movement clause expire at the end of June 30, leaving him without any no-trade protection. There is already plenty of interest out there and with Pittsburgh in sell mode, he could be had but will command a high package if the Penguins part with him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 31
CAP HIT: $6.4M

13. John Gibson, G - Anaheim Ducks

It’s not a Trade Watch List without Gibson being part of it. The Ducks remain willing to retain a part of his contract, which has two years left on it, but we will see what options become available this off-season.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Edmonton

AGE: 26
CAP HIT: $3.25M

14. Mario Ferraro, LD - San Jose Sharks

The Sharks are open to moving Ferraro, who is entering the last year of his contract. He hasn’t asked for a trade, but he would be open to a change of scenery, by all accounts. Teams that reached out during the season will poke around this off-season.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Colorado, Tampa Bay, Winnipeg, Calgary

AGE: 24
CAP HIT: $1.5M

15. Jordan Spence, RD - Los Angeles Kings

With a surplus of right-shot defencemen on the roster, the Kings are believed to be open to moving Spence, possibly in a package, for an upgrade elsewhere on the roster.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Ottawa

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $4.4M

16. Connor Murphy, RD - Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks looked to deal Murphy during the season. He’s battled injuries the last couple of seasons and is now in he final yea of his contract. Teams looking to shore up their right side will come calling.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $5M

18. Jean-Gabriel Pageau, C - New York Islanders

The previous regime on Long Island explored the trade market on Pageau, and new GM Mathieu Darche may do the same as Pageau is going into the last year on his contract. He does, however, own a 16-team no-trade list.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Winnipeg, Carolina, Boston

AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $5M

19. Jared McCann, LW - Seattle Kraken

With two more years left on his contract, McCann is an attractive add for teams looking to add more scoring punch to their lineup. He has a 10-team no-trade list and has some say in where he winds up, if the Kraken decide to trade him.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Ottawa, NY Rangers

AGES: 34
CAP HITS: $5.5M

20. Jonathan Marchessault, LW - Nashville Predators

As Nashville explores its options, they have indicated to teams they are willing to listen on Marchessault, who has a full no-movement clause. Despite inquiries, the Predators have not asked Marchessault to waive his NMC a the time of this update and this may become a moot point if Nashville doesn’t receive a significant trade offer.

Teams reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $4.6M

21. Jamie Oleksiak, LD - Seattle Kraken

Oleksiak is entering the last year of his contract after this season. He owns a 16-team no-trade list as part of his contract and will have a say in where he ends up, if dealt.

TBD

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $4.75M

24. Vladimir Tarasenko, RW - Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings are trying again to find Tarasenko a new home, like they did during the season. He’s entering the final year of his contract and will see his full no-trade clause shift to an eight-team list, but his camp is open to options.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 26
CAP HIT: RFA

25. Nic Hague, LD - Vegas Golden Knights

The Knights are actively takin calls on Hague, who is due for a big raise on his next contract. Several teams have reached out about his availability, and sources tell TFP that Hague was informed a trade this off-season may be on the horizon.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Philadelphia, Montreal, Detroit, Pittsburgh

AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $4.75M

26. Pavel Zacha, C - Boston Bruins

The Bruins explored the trade market on Zacha during the season and there is belief out there that Boston is looking, again, at moving him. Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $5M

27. Rickard Rakell, RW - Pittsburgh Penguins

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 31
CAP HIT: $7.5M

30. Morgan Rielly, LD - Toronto Maple Leafs

Rielly has a full no-movement clause and controls his fate. During his exit interview with the media in May, Rielly said he hadn’t thought about leaving Toronto, but speculation across the league suggests the Leafs may explore a move. For that, we list him at the bottom of our trade watch.
