2025 TRADE WATCH LIST 3.0

As of February 2, 2025 | 3:00pm ET

The 2024-25 NHL Trade Deadline arrives on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 3pm ET.

As we do every season, TFP has outlined some of the top names reportedly available according to various media reports and our own league-wide sources. Last season, 25 players were dealt. In 2023, 42 names came off the board. In 2022, 27 players moved.

This page will be updated frequently and TFP’s panel of experts will outline each player’s value. Some players may climb or fall off the list, while others may be added.

NOTE: Teams linked to players are based off various media reports and internal sources.

AGE: 26
CAP HIT: $11.6M

1. Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks

With J.T. Miller dealt to the Rangers, the Canucks are expected to press pause on exploring the Pettersson trade market. They’ll continue to listen, but unless someone blows their socks off — Pettersson has expressed his desire to stay in Vancouver — at this point, a move ahead of the deadline is unlikely. But never say never.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Buffalo, Carolina, Detroit, Minnesota, Dallas, Ottawa, Columbus

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $6M

2. Brock Nelson, C - New York Islanders

Nelson is eligible to become a UFA this July and at the time of this 3.0 list, contract talks between the Isles and Nelson’s camp are still believed to be minimal. But the team has since won 7 in a row and GM Lou Lamoriello is not committed to selling off pieces just yet. If the Islanders fall out of the race by the deadline, Nelson’s price tag is believed to include a first-round draft pick, as reported.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Minnesota, Dallas, Boston, Toronto, Colorado, Winnipeg, Columbus, Washington

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: $7.1M

3. Dylan Cozens, C - Buffalo Sabres

Cozens is in the second year of a seven-year contract and the Sabres continue to test the waters on him, making him available. Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams is open to trading him, but it seems like if a move happens, it will come in the form of a multi-player blockbuster.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Calgary, Chicago, Detroit, Nashville

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $3.5M

4. Brandon Tanev, LW/RW - Seattle Kraken

Tanev may not be as shocked to be moved as he appears in his headshots every season. He’s playing on an expiring contract and while a fan favourite, the Kraken will explore the trade market if they can’t get him signed to an extension.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Toronto, Washington, NY Rangers, Vegas, Ottawa, Columbus

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $5,166,667

5. Yanni Gourde, C - Seattle Kraken

Gourde is out 5-7 weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery and will be back around deadline day under the best case scenario. Still, teams remain interested in adding him for the playoffs. He can become a UFA this July, and the Kraken wouldn’t mind signing him to an extension, but they’ll listen to offers.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Washington, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Vegas, Colorado, Boston

AGE: 30
CAP HIT: $9.5M

6. Seth Jones, RD - Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks are taking calls on Jones, who owns a full no-movement clause, but as David Pagnotta reported, there seems to be a willingness to accept a trade for the right situation. Chicago won’t give him away, they value him and want a valued return. They’ll continue to listen, but this may be more likely to be an off-season deal.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Dallas

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $5M

7. Jean-Gabriel Pageau, C - New York Islanders

There’s plenty of noise across the NHL over Pageau’s availability. Even with the Islanders on their current hot streak, at the time of this update, Pageau’s believed to be available. He has one more year left on his contract after this season and owns a 16-team no-trade list.

Teams reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $1.7M

8. Jake Evans, C - Montreal Canadiens

Evans is having a career-year and has a very attractive cap hit. He will be due for a hefty raise if he keeps up his production at both ends of the ice and will be highly coveted ahead of the deadline. The Habs are interested in signing him to a new deal, though, but they’ll also listen to see if a team blows them out of the water with a big offer.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Los Angeles, New Jersey, Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Carolina

AGE: 31
CAP HIT: $6.4M

9. John Gibson, G - Anaheim Ducks

It’s not a Trade Watch List without John Gibson, who finds himself the highest he’s ever been on this list. He has two more years left on his contract after this season. The Ducks are willing to listen and retain part of his contract, but they aren’t just going to give him away.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Carolina, Edmonton

AGES: 23 / 22
CAP HITS: $3.85M / $8.35M

10. Bowen Byram / Owen Power - Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres appear to have attracted interest in both Byram and Power, and while the team is listening, they are unlikely to move both defencemen. One, however, could be on the move and Sabres GM Kevyn Adams will continue to entertain trade inquiries.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Anaheim, Winnipeg

AGE: 27
CAP HIT: $4.725M

11. Ivan Provorov, LD/RD - Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets are still in the thick of a tight wildcard race in the East, and Provorov has enjoyed his time in Columbus. He’s a pending UFA, though, and with several teams looking to bolster their blueline by the deadline, the Jackets could strike while the iron’s hot and move him for a solid package.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Ottawa, Vancouver, Dallas, Florida

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $5M

12. Kyle Palmieri, LW/RW - New York Islanders

Like Nelson, Palmieri could be on the move if the Islanders are out of the mix by the deadline. The team needs to recoup draft capital and young assets and moving him and Nelson will help collect some of those pieces. He owns a 16-team no-trade list, though, and will have a say in where he ends up, if dealt.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Los Angeles, Vancouver, Colorado

AGE: 26
CAP HIT: $3.25M

13. Mario Ferraro, LD - San Jose Sharks

Ferraro has drawn plenty of interest over the last 12-18 months and teams will surely check in on his availability ahead of this season’s trade deadline. He has another year on his contract and comes with an attractive cap hit, which ups his price tag. San Jose will listen, but the offer needs to be substantial.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Colorado, Tampa Bay, Ottawa, Winnipeg

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $3.15M

14. Brian Dumoulin, LD - Anaheim Ducks

Teams looking for a stay-at-home defender will be calling the Ducks about Dumoulin, who won two Stanley Cups with Pittsburgh.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Winnipeg, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Edmonton

AGE: 31
CAP HIT: $8.5M

15. Mika Zibanejad, C - New York Rangers

As TFP’s David Pagnotta first reported, Zibanejad would be willing to waive his NMC for the right environment. A move is not guaranteed, as the Rangers are back in the playoff race, and attempts to package him in a deal with Vancouver in December fell through, but the Rangers are open to exploring options.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 26
CAP HIT: $4.5M

16. Ryan Lindgren, LD - New York Rangers

Lindgren is in the final year of his contract and is eligible to become a UFA this July. He’d like to stay in New York, but if the Rangers dip back out of the playoff race, there’s a decent chance he’ll be moved by deadline day.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Winnipeg, Dallas

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $4.6M

17. Jamie Oleksiak, LD - Seattle Kraken

Teams have interest in Oleksiak, who has another year left on his contract after this season, and Seattle may be willing to entertain calls. He owns a 16-team no-trade list as part of his contract and will have a say in where he ends up, if dealt.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Toronto, Dallas, Edmonton

AGE: 30
CAP HIT: $5.1M

18. Rasmus Ristolainen, LD/RD - Philadelphia Flyers

Philly isn’t itching to trade Ristolainen, and with two more years left on his contract, they don’t have to do anything this season. But GM Danny Briere is willing to listen, and Ristolainen has improved his game over the last two seasons.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Edmonton, Dallas, Vancouver, Winnipeg

AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $2M

19. Ryan Donato, C - Chicago Blackhawks

Donato’s performance this season, coupled with his attractive cap hit, will make him a hot commodity in Chicago. He’s an unrestricted free agent this July and will command plenty of interest leading up to the trade deadline.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Winnipeg, Los Angeles, Ottawa, Toronto, New Jersey, Carolina

AGE: 35
CAP HIT: $3.185M

20. Gustav Nyquist, RW/C - Nashville Predators

The Predators do not have many pieces to sell off ahead of the deadline, but Nyquist is one of the few on an expiring contract in Nashville. He’s a prime candidate to be moved, and the Preds have one retention slot remaining and could eat some of his deal to help facilitate a trade.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 34
CAP HIT: $3.5M

21. David Savard, RD - Montreal Canadiens

With so many young defencemen in the system, Montreal can move Savard and fill his spot relatively quickly. He’s a strong, stay-at-home defenceman and was added by Tampa during their 2021 Cup run — other contenders will come calling to deepen their blueline.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Edmonton, Tampa Bay

AGE: 30
CAP HIT: $3M

22. Scott Laughton, C - Philadelphia Flyers

Teams view Laughton and his $3M cap hit as an attractive asset to pursue ahead of the deadline. As we’ve reported, the Flyers aren’t eager to trade him but they are willing to take calls. The asking price includes a first-round pick.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Toronto, Los Angeles, Tampa Bay, Ottawa

AGE: 26
CAP HIT: $2.3M

23. Trent Frederic, LW/C - Boston Bruins

The Bruins are fighting for their post-season lives, but moving Frederic might be necessary if the team can’t get him signed to a new contract so they can, at least, generate an asset for him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Washington, Minnesota

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: $875,000

24. Nick Robertson, LW - Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs want to upgrade their mid-six and have continued to dangle Robertson as trade bait. He could be packaged up in a move for an upgrade as Toronto has its sights set on chasing a Stanley Cup.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Dallas, Seattle, Anaheim

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $4.5M

25. Ryan O’Reilly, C - Nashville Predators

The Predators aren’t actively trying to trade O’Reilly, but the team will take calls and will consider a move if the right offer presents itself. As some have reported, O’Reilly will be consulted if a move is close, even though he doesn’t own any no-trade protection. He has two more years left on his contract.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 31
CAP HIT: $2.75M

26. Matt Grzelcyk, LD - Pittsburgh Penguins

Grzelcyk is enjoying a solid season in Pittsburgh, having already hit career highs in assists and points. He’s a UFA this summer and a prime candidate to be moved by a Penguins team motivated to make more moves ahead of the deadline.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Tampa Bay, Winnipeg, Colorado

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $5M

27. Jason Zucker, LW - Buffalo Sabres

One of the bright spots in Buffalo’s lineup this season, Zucker is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1. The Sabres will try to sign him to an extension, but failing to do so will likely result in him being traded ahead of the deadline — and there are plenty of teams looking for secondary scoring.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 24
CAP HIT: $3.872M

28. K’Andre Miller, LD - New York Rangers

The Rangers are still listening on everyone, even though they’ve climbed back into the playoff race, and are willing to package players up in the right deals. Miller’s name is still out there. He’s set to become an RFA, with arbitration rights, this summer.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Anaheim, San Jose

AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $4.45M

29. Christian Dvorak, LW/C - Montreal Canadiens

If the Habs can find the right deal, they will consider moving Dvorak ahead of the deadline - even as they chase a playoff spot. He’s a UFA in July, but given his cap hit, Montreal may need to get creative if they want to move him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: $5.75M

30. Trevor Zegras, C/LW - Anaheim Ducks

Zegras is out there, once again. He’s available, but the Ducks are holding firm in their position — if you want him, it’ll cost you. Anaheim was hoping for a rebound season, offensively, but a lot of teams still believe in his potential.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

NY Rangers, Montreal, Chicago, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Detroit
