KRUG OUT FOR THE SEASON

Torey Krug, defenceman

St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug is set to undergo surgery to address pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle that will result in him missing the entire 2024-25 season.

The Blues made the announcement Tuesday morning, and Krug will speak with the media on Wednesday at 9:30am CT.

The decision to undergo surgery was reached following an effort to rehabilitate the injury through non-surgical interventions.

Krug, 33, was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on Oct. 9, 2020.

He had been the subject of trade speculation dating back to the summer of 2023, where he was almost traded to the Philadelphia Flyers – he refused to waive his full no-trade clause, which nixed the deal.

Trade chatter picked up again this summer, with reports suggesting a move to the Anaheim Ducks could be in the works, but his desire to not waive his NTC coupled with injury concerns prevented any moves from taking place.

Now, Krug will miss the full 2024-25 campaign.

Last season, the Livonia, Michigan, native dressed in 77 regular-season games, posting 39 points (four goals, 35 assists) and 32 penalty minutes.
