LILJEGREN WOULD WELCOME CHANGE OF SCENERY
Timothy Liljegren, defenceman
Timothy Liljegren’s name has been floating around the rumour mill since the summer, as the Toronto Maple Leafs have dangled him as trade bait.
Liljegren, 25, is in the first year of a two-year, $6 million contract and has been scratched in the first three games of Toronto’s season, thus far.
On Friday, TFP’s David Pagnotta reported that while Liljegren has not made a formal trade demand, he is open to a move and the Maple Leafs are aware he would welcome a change of scenery and an opportunity to play full-time elsewhere.
Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving has not been eager to move Liljegren, as he and his staff are fond of the depth they have on the blueline.
On #LeafsForever D Timothy Liljegren: while a formal trade demand hasn’t been made, sounds like Toronto knows he’d welcome a change of scenery. Nothing imminent, Leafs have dangled him since the summer.

A move is not believed to be imminent, according to Pagnotta, and Liljegren remains patient, but the Leafs know they have an asset they can move if needed.
If Toronto decides to pull the trigger on a trade, a move may not occur until later in the season as Treliving may look to further upgrade his roster this season.
In 55 games with the Leafs last season, Liljegren registered three goals and 20 assists for 23 points.
