FOWLER AMONG VETS STILL IN PLAY FOR DUCKS
Cam Fowler, defenceman
As the Anaheim Ducks continue on their rebuild, they have multiple players that will continue to attract the interest of contenders looking to bolster their lineups later on in the season.
Clubs are beginning to evaluate their options for potential moves down the road and a veteran player like defenceman Cam Fowler is one of the pieces the Ducks have available.
On Friday’s edition of “The Latest” on TFP, David Pagnotta reiterated that Fowler is still in play for Anaheim.
“You’ve got a lot of defencemen that are out there that have a little bit of term on their contract. He’s at $6.5 million. He’s got another year on his contract after this season. As you mentioned, there was talk at the start of the season and in preseason about at least figuring out the different pathways (the Ducks) could take if they want to move him,” Pagnotta said.
“He wants to go to a contender, just like John Gibson, the goaltender there as well. They’re kind of over this little rebuild situation that they’re in. But because of that extra year, that value is propped up a little bit. He’s not an expiring deal. This isn’t a rental situation. So those conversations will continue as the season progresses.
Fowler does own a four-team trade list but as previously reported, he is open to expanding that list and accept a trade to a top-tier Stanley Cup contender.

Pagnotta also suggested “Anaheim would probably retain a portion of that contract to help a deal moving forward,” which would certainly make him that much more appealing to a team with cap restraints.
Beyond Fowler, the Ducks have three veteran forwards playing on expiring contracts in Frank Vatrano, Robby Fabbri and Brock McGinn, all of whom could be on the move this season.
“We’ll keep monitoring things in Anaheim. It doesn’t sound like anything is imminent from that perspective, but teams are certainly starting to do their due process,” Pagnotta added. “Fowler’s certainly on some teams’ radars, along with some of their perspective unrestricted free agents upfront. Frank Vatrano, Robby Fabbri and Brock McGinn, all three on expiring deals. Not the greatest of starts for them. So that might extend closer to the deadline.”
