The Philadelphia Flyers have multiple pieces they can move this season, and while some are generating more attention than others – such as Rasmus Ristolainen, Joel Farabee and Scott Laughton – young centre Morgan Frost is also in play.

Frost, 25, is in the final year of a two-year, $4.2 million contract and can become a restricted free agent next summer. Flyers GM Danny Briere has been engaged in trade talks involving Frost for the last two years and this season may finally be the time to pull the trigger on a move.

In 17 games with the Flyers so far this season, Frost has registered one goal and five assists for six points, and 10 penalty minutes. He has been scratched in four games this season, but returned to the lineup Saturday.

Multiple teams have been linked to Frost, including the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks, among others, but it is unclear if a trade is imminent. On Friday, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman suggested Chicago “makes sense” as a match.

The Flyers will continue to man the phones on Frost, Ristolainen, Laughton and others as they maintain their rebuild and stay on that course.

It is also unclear what type of trade the Flyers prefer to make involving Frost, who could be packaged in a larger deal or shipped out individually for another player or draft picks.
