The Carolina Hurricanes will see a shift in their management department, as Don Waddell has stepped down as General Manager and Eric Tulsky has been named Interim GM.
On Thursday evening, both Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, Waddell interviewed with the Columbus Blue Jackets for their GM vacancy and may move on from the Hurricanes this off-season.
The Hurricanes announced Waddell’s resignation on Friday.
Waddell was named President and GM of the Hurricanes on May 8, 2018 and has overseen many facets of the organization and played an integral role both on and off the ice, as well as locking in the Chicago Wolves back as Carolina’s AHL affiliate.
As TFP’s David Pagnotta reported Thursday, Tulsky could be first in line to move up the depth chart and become a club’s new GM.
Tulsky, who has been a GM candidate for other clubs in the past, first joined the Hurricanes in 2014 as a Data Analyst and has moved his way up the ranks.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Eric Tulsky elevated to the GM post if Don Waddell moves on. Another name to look out for, for a position in management, is Justin Williams. https://t.co/hFupaz3Jdq

The Hurricanes will begin their search for a new full-time GM, effective immediately, but Tulsky is expected to be a frontrunner.
Pagnotta also noted Thursday that former Hurricane and three-time Stanley Cup champion Justin Williams could move up to an AGM post.
Williams, who had two stints as a player with the Canes, is currently a Special Advisor to the GM, but as Pagnotta also reported on Friday morning on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio, he is expected to have an elevated role with the organization in the near future.
