TOFFOLI PREPARING TO HIT FREE AGENT MARKET
Tyler Toffoli, forward
Scoring winger Tyler Toffoli is planning to hit the market as an unrestricted free agent July 1, according to TFP’s David Pagnotta.
On Thursday, Pagnotta reported Toffoli will be moving on from the Winnipeg Jets after joining the club prior to the trade deadline from the New Jersey Devils.
Toffoli, 32, is coming off a four-year, $17 million contract. He tallied 33 goals and 22 assists for 55 points in 79 games with the Devils and Jets this season, and added two goals in the playoffs.
It is unclear what type of contract he is looking for, but another four-year agreement could be in the cards with a club in need of more scoring punch in their lineup.
The Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks, two of Toffoli’s former teams, expressed interest in him during the season and could be among the clubs that pursue him this July.
In 812 career NHL regular-season games with the Kings, Canucks, Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames, Devils and Jets, Toffoli has accumulated 260 goals and 261 assists for 521 points.
He as originally drafted by the Kings in the second-round, 47th overall, of the 2010 NHL Draft and won a Stanley Cup with Los Angeles in 2014.
