GIRGENSONS, OLOFSSON MOVING ON FROM BUFFALO
Victor Olofsson, forward
Zemgus Girgensons has spent his entire 10-year NHL career with the Buffalo Sabres, but as he approaches the summer without a new contract, it might be time to move on and explore future options elsewhere.
Victor Olofsson has played his full six-year NHL career with the Sabres, as well, and his future seems more clear, as he will be looking to join a new club this summer.
The Sabres have just over $23.2 million in salary cap space for the 2024-25 season and will be looking to add a top-six winger and a third line centre this off-season, as TFP’s David Pagnotta has previously reported.
Sabres GM Kevyn Adams is expected to be active this summer as he looks to strengthen his roster for next season and there is growing belief he will consider moving the 11th overall draft pick in next month’s NHL Draft if the right deal for an immediate upgrade presents itself.
Olofsson, 28, will become a free agent and is set on finding a new home in July, his agent Claude Lemieux confirmed to TFP.
Victor Olofsson will be hitting the UFA market and moving on from the #LetsGoBuffalo this summer. He started his NHL career with them in 2018-19 and is ready for his next chapter.

Multiple teams will be looking to add secondary scoring to their lineups this summer and could pursue Olofsson once the free agent doors swing open.
Girgensons, 30, is expected to test the free agent market this July, according to Pagnotta, and if he links up with a new club, that will end his tenure in Buffalo. He made $2.5 million this season; it is unclear what type of contract he is looking for on his next deal.
Forwards Tyson Jost and Eric Robinson are also eligible to become unrestricted free agents July 1, Adams must ultimately make a decision on whom he might have interest in re-signing.
In 63 games with the Sabres this season, Girgensons registered eight goals and six assists for 14 points, along with 21 penalty minutes.
