Calgary Flames GM Craig Conroy is expected to explore the trade market this summer, having already been linked to the likes of Carolina’s Martin Necas and Tampa Bay’s Tanner Jeannot, among others.

During the “Monday Mix” podcast with TFP’s Anthony Di Marco and David Pagnotta, Di Marco indicated Necas is on Calgary’s radar.

“He’s exactly the type of player that General Manager Craig Conroy has even alluded to publicly that he wants to look to add,” Di Marco stated.

The Hurricanes are expected to discuss a contract extension with Necas and his agent before weighing all of their options, though several teams are believed to have interest. In addition to the Flames, the Philadelphia Flyers, Utah franchise and Seattle Kraken, according to Pagnotta, also have interest in Necas.

Necas, 25, is eligible to become a restricted free agent July 1 and has arbitration rights.

During the latest “32 Thoughts” podcast out on Monday, Jeff Marek suggested Jeannot could be a fit for the Flames, who are looking to add young NHL-proven talent to the roster and Jeannot also checks off a couple additional boxes for Calgary.

The Flames have just under $20 million in salary cap space to play with off-season and Conroy must also decide what to do with goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who was almost traded to the New Jersey Devils during the season.

Talks between the Flames and Devils are expected to reignite in the coming weeks leading up to the NHL Draft, Pagnotta stated on The Fan 960 in Calgary on Monday morning.
