The New York Rangers completed one move on Saturday, sending Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey to the Colorado Avalanche and GM Chris Drury is trying to do more with the trade deadline fast approaching.

Rangers forward Reilly Smith is being held out of Sunday’s game against the Nashville Predators for roster protection purposes as Drury continues to work the trade lines.

Smith, 33, is playing on an expiring contract. He comes with a $3.75 million salary cap hit and owns an eight-team no-trade list as part of his contract.

It is unclear which teams are currently in the mix for Smith, who has registered 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 58 games so far this season.

Drury is also taking and making calls on some of his other players, with the likes of Mika Zibanejad, K’Andre Miller and Chris Kreider, who has been out of action recently with an upper body injury, reportedly still in play.

The Rangers currently sit 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 29-26-4 record. They are four points back of the Detroit Red Wings for the final wildcard spot in the East with 23 games left in the regular-season.
