PANTHERS ACQUIRE VANECEK FROM SHARKS

The Florida Panthers have acquired goaltender Vitek Vanecek from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for right wing Patrick Gilles.
skated in nine games with Florida this season. In 39 games in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, he registered five goals and two assists.
Vanecek, 29, is in the final year of his contract and comes with a $3.4 million salary cap hit. He is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
In 18 games this season with San Jose, Vanecek posted a 3-10-3 record with a 3.88 goals-against-average and a .822 save percentage.
