The New York Islanders are expected to present veteran forwards Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri with contracts offers, while at the same time juggling trade inquiries ahead of tomorrow’s 3pm ET trade deadline.

Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello is weighing the options of keeping one or both Nelson and Palmieri versus trading them, as several teams have expressed significant interest.

TFP’s David Pagnotta reported Wednesday evening that extension offers were pitched already or will be presented on Thursday.

Pagnotta also noted that multiple teams, including the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars, are very interested in trading for Nelson, while Palmieri has also generated plenty of attention. TFP’s Dennis Bernstein first reported the Los Angeles Kings were one of the clubs looking at Palmieri.

Both Nelson and Palmieri are among the players on the TFP Trade Watch List.

It is unclear how many teams are gunning for either player, though packages are believed to include first-round picks for Nelson.

The Islanders started to engage in trade formal discussions with teams on both players on Monday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning were one of the teams interested in Nelson before acquiring Yanni Gourde and Oliver Bjorkstrand from the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday.

Nelson, 33, is in the final year of a six-year, $36 million contract and owns a 16-team no-trade list as part of his deal.

Palmieri, 34, is in the last year of a four-year, $20 million deal and also has a 16-team no-trade list in his contract.
