The Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers are believed to be working on a trade involving star defenceman Seth Jones.
According to separate sources, Jones has agreed to waive his no-movement clause for a trade to Florida.
Panthers goaltender Spencer Knight is expected to be part of the return to Chicago.
Chicago GM Kyle Davidson has spoken with multiple teams about Jones, including the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche, but has narrowed down a move with the Panthers – a trade that is expected to be finalized as soon as Saturday evening.
TFP’s David Pagnotta first reported in January that Jones would be open to waiving his NMC and accept a trade to a contender. A month later, Jones admitted to wanting a trade.
Jones, 30, has four more seasons remaining on his contract after this season and comes with a $9.5 million salary cap hit. The Blackhawks are expected to retain a portion of Jones’ contract.
