The Montreal Canadiens remain active in the trade market, not only looking to add a young top-six forward to their roster, but GM Kent Hughes continues to take calls on some of his pending free agents, such as forward Joel Armia and defenceman David Savard.

Armia, 31, owns a $3.4 million salary cap hit, while the 34-year-old Savard has a $3.5 million cap hit.

The Canadiens have one salary retention slot left available to them this season and Hughes is willing to eat a portion of someone's contract if the right deal presents itself.

Both Savard and Armia rank among the players on the TFP Trade Watch List.

The Winnipeg Jets are among the teams interested in both Armia and Savard, though several other teams have been kicking the tires on them, as well.

According to various reports, the Toronto Maple Leafs are also interest in Savard, while the Washington Capitals and Edmonton Oilers are two other teams believed to have expressed interest in Armia.
