MAPLE LEAFS ACQUIRE EDMUNDSON FROM CAPITALS

The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired defenceman Joel Edmundson from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 2024 third-round draft pick and a 2025 fifth-round selection.

The Capitals are retaining 50 percent of Edmundson’s salary as part of the deal.

Edmundson was ranked on the TFP Trade Watch List.

The 30-year-old has collected 29 goals and 81 assists for 110 points in 521 career regular-season games with Washington, Montreal, Carolina and St. Louis.
