UTAH OPEN TO TRADING 6TH OVERALL PICK

Add the Utah Hockey Club as another team willing to trade its first-round selection in next week’s NHL Draft.

During the “Monday Mix” on TFP with David Pagnotta and Anthony Di Marco, it had been revealed that Utah GM Bill Armstrong is open to trading the sixth-overall pick and is willing to explore all options.

Utah joins the Ottawa Senators (7th overall), New Jersey Devils (10th overall), Buffalo Sabres (11th overall) and Philadelphia Flyers (12th overall) as the fifth club in the top-15 open to moving its pick.

Armstrong is believed to be in the market for a top-two and top-four defenceman, along with a scoring winger. It is unclear, however, if he would part with the sixth-overall selection to fill one of those voids.

With more than $43 million in salary cap space, Utah is expected to be extremely active this off-season and Armstrong has the green light to add to his roster as the club aims to compete for a wildcard spot next season.
