The New York Rangers have acquired centre J.T. Miller, defenceman Erik Brännström and the rights to defenceman Jackson Dorrington from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for centre Filip Chytil, defenceman Victor Mancini, and a 2025 conditional first-round draft pick.

The first-round pick is top-13 protected. Should that pick fall within the top 13 in this summer’s NHL Draft, the Canucks will receive an unprotected 2026 first-round pick, instead.

“On behalf of the entire Canucks organization I want to thank J.T. for his time here in Vancouver,” said Canucks GM Patrik Allvin. “J.T. was a passionate impact player and good leader for our hockey team. Moving him was not an easy decision but we are pleased with our return from the Rangers. Both Filip and Victor are good additions for our club and we are excited to see what they bring to us on the ice.”

Miller, 31, tallied nine goals and 26 assists for 35 points in 40 games for the Canucks this season.

He has played 839 career regular-season games across 13 NHL seasons, to date, split between Vancouver, Tampa Bay, and the Rangers, registering 247 goals and 427 assists for 674 points.

A native of East Palestine, Ohio, Miller was originally selected 15th overall by the Blueshirts in the 2011 NHL Draft.

Brannstrom, 25, notched three goals and five assists for eight points in 28 games for the Canucks this season.

In 294 career NHL games between Vancouver and Ottawa, Eksjo, Sweden native has registered 10 goals and 67 assists for 77 points.

Dorrington, 20, has tallied two goals and eight assists for 10 points in 23 games at Northeastern University this season. He was originally selected by the Canucks in the sixth round, 176th overall, of the 2022 NHL Draft.

Chytil, 25, has played 41 games for New York this season, registering 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points and 14 penalty minutes.

In 378 career games, all spent with the Rangers, he has recorded 75 goals and 89 assists for 164 points and 94 penalty minutes.

The Kromeriz, CZE native was originally selected 21st overall by the Rangers in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Mancini, 22, has appeared in 15 games for the Rangers this season, his first in the NHL, recording one goal, four assists and two penalty minutes.

He was originally selected by New York in the fifth round, 159th overall, in the 2022 NHL Draft.
