It seems Arthur Kaliyev’s tenure with the Los Angeles Kings may be coming to an end as the club placed him on waivers Sunday, giving the rest of the NHL an opportunity to claim him without giving up an asset in exchange.

Kaliyev, 23, returned to the Kings after being loaned to their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign, after he recovered from a fractured clavicle that kept him out of action since September.

As TFP has previously reported, Kaliyev has been open to a change of scenery and was looking to be traded last season and this past summer. While Kings GM Rob Blake explored the market, teams were not willing to pay the asking price.

Now, Kaliyev may get the opportunity for a fresh start on a new team if another club claims him off waivers.

According to the Ottawa Sun, the Senators have expressed interest in Kaliyev in the past, as Sens GM Steve Staios is familiar with Kaliyev from their days with the Hamilton Bulldogs organization.

It is possible other clubs explore the possibility of claiming Kaliyev, who comes with an $825,000 salary cap hit.

In 51 games with the Kings last season, Kaliyev registered seven goals and eight assists for 15 points.
