The Pittsburgh Penguins remain frustrated with the play of goaltender Tristan Jarry and are placing him on waivers today at 2pm ET.

Jarry, 29, is in the second year of a five-year, $26.875 million contract, in which he also owns as 12-team no-trade list.

Earlier Wednesday, Penguins beat writer Josh Yohe of The Athletic reported “the Penguins organization has reached a breaking point with Tristan Jarry.” An hour later, the team announced they were placing him on waivers.

Jarry has struggled all season, posting an 8-8-4 record with a .886 save percentage and 3.26 goals-against-average in 22 games. He has lost five straight starts.

In the event Jarry clears waivers, which is anticipated, the Penguins can send him to the AHL and create $1.15 million in salary cap space.

Waiving Jarry may be the first move in Pittsburgh’s next wave of moves, as GM Kyle Dubas remains open for business and continues to listen on a number of his players, including pending free agents Marcus Pettersson, Anthony Beauvillier, Drew O’Connor and Matt Grzelcyk.
