Veteran forward Vladimir Tarasenko has not had the type of season neither he nor the Detroit Red Wings expected.
Tarasenko, 33, signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the Red Wings last July, a deal that includes a full no-trade clause this season.
As the Red Wings fight for a playoff spot this season, it seems they have been having discussions with teams about possibly moving Tarasenko and the player may be open to a move and more responsibilities.
During the “Saturday Headlines” segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Elliotte Friedman reported he has “heard there’s been some noise around” Tarasenko, mainly because his time in Detroit has “kind of struggled to be a fit.”
“I’ve just heard, in his particular case, there’s been some conversation around him and we’ll see how this all develops,” Friedman added.
In 53 games with the Wings so far this season, Tarasenko has registered seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points.
He was traded from Ottawa to Florida ahead of last season’s trade deadline and helped the Panthers capture their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.
