SABRES FIELDING CALLS FOR MITTELSTADT
Sabres GM Kevyn Adams
The Buffalo Sabres are taking trade calls on centre Casey Mittelstadt, who is eligible to become a restricted free agent July 1.
Former NHLer and cohost of After The Whistle Andrew Peters first reported Mittelstadt was available and the Sabres were engaged in trade conversations about him.
As TFP’s David Pagnotta reported on Saturday, the Sabres are not actively trying to trade Mittelstadt, per say, a team source told him, but Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams has received interest and has not told teams he will not move him.
Mittelstadt, 25, currently leads the Sabres with 42 points (12 goals, 30 assists) in 51 games so far on the season. He has jumped into the Top-10 of the TFP Trade Watch List.
According to a source close to Mittelstadt’s camp, the young forward prefers to stay in Buffalo and likes playing with the Sabres, but that won’t stop Adams from taking calls and having trade conversations with other clubs.
It is unclear which teams have expressed interest in Mittelstadt, though Peters has suggested the Anaheim Ducks could be one of them.
Mittelstadt is due for a hefty raise this off-season and has arbitration rights.
