The Boston Bruins continue to generate interest in forward Trent Frederic, who is in the final year of his current contract.

Frederic, 26, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next summer and has a $2.3 million salary cap hit. Given his contractual status, teams are poking around on his availability, something that occurred earlier in the season, as reported by TFP’s David Pagnotta on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio.

During the “Saturday Headlines” segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Elliotte Friedman reported Frederic continues to draw interest and Bruins GM Don Sweeney’s phone has been blowing up.

“The Bruins are getting a lot of calls. ‘What are you thinking here. Will you keep him? Will he be available’,” Friedman said. “He’s a guy that’s definitely got a lot of interest.”

In 31 games with the Bruins so far this season, Frederic has registered five goals and six assists for 11 points.
