BOESER LOOKING FOR OVER $8M AAV?
Brock Boeser, forward
With the Vancouver Canucks in the thick of things in the Western Conference playoff race, some attention is starting to turn to sniper Brock Boeser, who is in the final year of his contract.
Boeser, 27, has a $6.65 million salary cap hit and is due for a hefty raise on his next contract following a 40-goal campaign last season – he is currently on pace for 26 goals in 75 games this season.
While contract talks between the Canucks and Boeser’s camp have been minimal, to date, Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos reported Boeser is looking for an eight-year contract worth more than $8 million per season.
According to Kypreos, “Vancouver isn’t yet prepared to pay him what his projected value is.”
Kypreos also suggested that if an extension isn’t in place later this season, the Canucks could consider trading him – though team sources suggested to TFP that may be unlikely if the team remains in the playoff picture.
In 20 games with the Canucks, so far, Boeser has registered seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points.
