RED WINGS ENGAGED IN TRADE TALKS
Jonatan Berggren, forward
The Detroit Red Wings have been involved in trade discussions of late, and those talks may have escalated recently, according to TFP’s David Pagnotta.
As Pagnotta reported Sunday evening via X, one of the players the Red Wings have been discussing in some of their recent trade calls is young forward Jonatan Berggren, who is currently playing with Detroit’s AHL affiliate the Grand Rapids Griffins.
It is unclear if a trade is imminent, but multiple sources have confirmed Berggren’s been brought up in trade talks with multiple teams over the last couple of weeks.
Pagnotta also indicated that Berggren, Austin Czarnik and Zach Aston-Reese are expected to be called up from the AHL on Monday and could join the Red Wings in Dallas ahead of their game against the Stars, but that does not have an affect on trade discussions.
The #LGRW have been engaged in trade talks lately, per source. Jonatan Berggren, who was scratched in today's Grand Rapids game (that is still ongoing), is one of the players believed to be in recent discussions.

It is also unknown as to the type of trade the Red Wings are exploring, or which teams may be involved. However, two sources told TFP on Sunday the Montreal Canadiens and Wings have had recent trade talks, though it has not been confirmed if Berggren was a topic of discussion.
The club has just over $4.378 million in salary cap space, according to CapFriendly, and that figure will continue to increase with each passing day leading up to the March 8 trade deadline.
Berggren, 23, is in the final year of a three-year, $2.775 million contract. He registered 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points in 67 games with the Wings last season and has one assist in four games with Detroit this season.
In 16 games in the AHL this season, so far, Berggren has registered five goals and 10 assists for 15 points.
