The Washington Capitals would like to get their superstar forward Alex Ovechkin signed to a long-term contract extension.
However, according to the Ottawa Sun, they're having trouble negotiation with the impending restricted free agent.
Ovechkin fired his agent, Don Meehan, over a year ago, and has yet to replace him. The Sun, however, claims he has hired a lawyer to be his advisor.
The Capitals would like to get Ovechkin inked to a five-year contract, and TFP has learned they have already approached him with a figure around $8 million per season.
