Teams calling about Thornton, Marleau

TheFourthPeriod.com

According to various reports, the San Jose Sharks are receiving a lot of phone calls about the availability of centermen Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau.

Thornton and Marleau have no-trade clauses and would have to approve any deal the Sharks try to make.

One source told TFP it's believed the Sharks will entertain offers, but a deal "happening this summer probably isn't likely."

Sharks GM Doug Wilson told the Ottawa Sun he isn't going to trade either player, but he is interested in making moves.

"There will be some level of changes," he said. "We will listen to every phone call. We're not going to stop pushing until we get to where we want to get to."

A source also told TFP the Sharks are willing to trade right wing Jonathan Cheechoo, who has two-years, at $3 million each, remaining on his contract.
