The San Joe Sharks have acquired defenseman Brian Campbell and a 2008 seventh round pick from the Buffalo Sabres for forward Steve Bernier and a first round pick in 2008.

"Brian's a guy that gets the puck out of your zone quick," said Sharks GM Doug Wilson. "He's a quarterback on the power play and he will complement our group really well."

Campbell, 28, is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He has registered five goals and 38 assists in 63 games this season.

"I'm obviously excited," said Campbell. "I talked to Doug Wilson and he's excited. I'll get ready and play tomorrow night."

Bernier, 22, has 13 goals, 10 assists and 62 penalty minutes in 59 games for the Sharks this season. For his career, Bernier has 42 goals and 39 assists in 160 games.

Bernier, a native of Quebec City, Quebec, was San Jose's first-round choice (16th overall) in the 2003 Entry Draft.
