Senators star forward Dany Heatley has been at the center of the trade block for several weeks, long before news of his trade demands became public knowledge.
Heatley, 28, had asked the Senators to trade him a number of months ago and Ottawa GM Bryan Murray has been entertaining offers in an attempt to acquire the best available package.
Heatley and his agents, Stacey McAlpine and J.P. Barry, insist no timeline has been requested.
It has been widely reported that Heatley submitted a list of 10 teams he would accept a trade to, however two separate sources close to the situation confirmed to TFP that those reports "are inaccurate."
TFP has learned that as many as "15 teams" are in the mix for Heatley.
"There are a bunch of teams trying to get their hands on [Heatley]," one source said. "There's a good chance he's dealt this week. The Senators have done their due diligence and have been fielding offers for several weeks. This situation didn't just spring up on them over night."
It's believed the Minnesota Wild, Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks are among the number of teams seriously interested in Heatley.
