Free agency has begun; 25 most coveted players

  (TORONTO, ON) -- The free-agent market is now open for business and teams around the league are frantically faxing offers to the players they feel will most benefit their club.

Uncertainty surrounds the National Hockey League, as players and managers alike haven't a real clue as to how the beginning of free agency will pan out.

Will players sign off the bat? Can teams afford to make long-term commitments? Will they take less money to play close to home? 

These questions will be answered as we inch close to the start of the 2005-06 season. For now, the frenzy is underway and everyone is waiting to see what their team does first.
