Bruins now focused on Ward, Metropolit

TheFourthPeriod.com

With Chuck Kobasew locked up to a new three-year contract, Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli will shift his focus on the team's other impending free agents, reports the Boston Globe.

Chiarelli told the Globe he's had "substantive discussions" regarding potential unrestricted free agents Aaron Ward and Glen Metropolit, and restricted free agent Dennis Wideman.

While nothing is imminent, the Bruins hope to have these players signed before July 1.

Wideman is eligible for arbitration, but Chiarelli said he preferred not to go that route.

David Pagnotta is currently on the road covering the playoffs and is unavailable to comment.
