DEWAR, DUHAIME IN PLAY FOR WILD

Brandon Duhaime, forward

The Minnesota Wild are not expected to be overly aggressive or busy ahead of the March 8 trade deadline, but GM Bill Guerin is open to moving some of his pending free agents.

The Wild have seven players on the roster set to become unrestricted free agents this July: forwards Pat Maroon, Brandon Duhaime and Jacob Lucchini, defencemen Alex Goligoski, Zach Bogosian and Dakota Mermis, and veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

Forwards Connor Dewar and Mason Shaw, and defenceman Declan Chisholm are eligible to become restricted free agents July 1.

Fleury has already stated he does not want to move and as a result will not waive his no-movement clause, Maroon is injured and will not be able to return to the lineup until later this month, which puts him in a cloudy position ahead of the deadline, and the Wild do not plan on trading Goligoski, who also has a full NMC.

During Saturday’s CCM Hockey Trade Deadline primer episode on TFP, Anthony Di Marco revealed the Wild would be open to trading Dewar and Duhaime, along with their other potential free agents.

It is unclear as to the asking price for either player, but teams are aware that both are available.

Di Marco also noted the Wild are not expected to buy before the deadline, either, and are expected to run with their current roster, minus any players moved out prior to deadline day, as they try to climb back into playoff contention.
