NO TALKS YET BETWEEN PANTHERS, FORSLING

The Florida Panthers have several top-tier players playing in the final year of their current contracts and negotiations with most have not yet gotten underway, according to TFP’s David Pagnotta.

Earlier this month, Pagnotta reported that while Sam Reinhart is open to starting negotiations during the season, those negotiations have not yet begun. Contract discussions between the Panthers and defenceman Brandon Montour have also cooled since the start of the season.

On Monday, during “On The Fly” on NHL Network, Pagnotta noted contract talks between the Panthers and blueline Gustav Forsling’s camp have also not started.

“Nothing yet on the docket in terms of discussions between his agent and Billy Zito. We’ll see how this progresses,” Pagnotta said. “My understanding is a little bit after All Star, perhaps even this coming weekend, that Florida will start to engage and get an understanding what they are looking for.”

Forsling, 27, is in the final year of a three-year, $8 million contract.

In 48 games with the Panthers so far this season, Forsling has registered seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points, along with a plus-31 rating and 35 penalty minutes.
